Enter Winter.

So winter is here, which means the shop slows down a bit, and I start painting alot more. Also putting more work into previously started projects. Ian came in at the beginning of a walk in Saturday, and asked for a dragon half sleeve/ chest panel. Not a usual request for a walkin, but it definetely made my day. So everything was drawn on the spot. We have since worked on it every other week for the past two months. One more session and this should be done. The lotus is on another good client of mine, David. David usually gets very small tattoos, and this was the first one I have done on him thats all my own design. Thanks again. I have been on a major dragon kick the past month, and would love to tattoo more of them. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, Giving Week

I absolutely love tattoing lady heads, and this one was a blast to do. I started an instagram account quite a few weeks back, but I believe I failed to mention it on this blog. Find me and follow. I post quite frequently, as my photos all come from the camera phone. I also finished this koi-dragon halfsleeve. This was done in 3 sessions. Gabe is a beast, and would sit very well each time. Thanks for looking.

Holy City Tattooing Collective

Holy City Tattooing Collective is the new name for the shop. Our new # is 843.202.0950 Trey got these chest panels. Trey is rad, and tougher than most. Unfortunately, Trey will be moving soon. I'm really glad I was able to do these for him, and hopefully will do some more work for him in the future, if he ever decides to come back to this side of the country. Zach got cherry blossoms on his forearm. the other side has a luna moth caught in a web. He gets some interesting things tattooed on him. Hopefully this doesn't get him discharged from the Navy. It is a little larger than what they allow nowadays. Either way, good luck in the future, Zach. Lastly, I painted a Ningyo. Basically a japanese mermaid. Referenced from Toriyama's Gazu Hyakki Yagyo series. Easily one of my favorite collections of artwork ever. I would like to do a whole series of paintings of yokai. I would also like to make some tattoos of them.(hint, hint). Tell your friends. I also enjoyed a waterballoon fight with my son today in the scorching Charleston sun. I swear he is way cooler than anyone.

Gettin' Medieval

So, I can't say I've done a ton of Medieval dragons before. I also would say that I wasn't extremely excited about starting this, but within minutes of starting, I had a vision for it. It tuurned out way better than I had originally thought of it. A very happy client = very happy Rob. The owl, without saying, was great fun. Birds will always be in my all time favorite things to tattoo list. Add clothing and human characteristics, and it gets even better. My family moved into a house this month. It has a garage. So my motorcycle decided to force me to use said garage by having carburator problems. Many attempts were made. Carburator and Rob became enemies. 2 weeks later, the battle continued. A truce was made, and a great friend of the shop repaired said carburator. Motorcycle and Rob's bond became greater. We are one. We have won.

So, I made my first trip back to San Francisco since I left last year. I left the day after my 30th birthday, and got back today. It was an amazing trip. I saw lots of friends, drank more booze than I have this entire past year in 12 days, and did a slew of tattoos. I went back to work at Body Manipulations while I was there. It was very nice to see some old clients of mine again. Also to work with Colin Stevens is always a blast. He has some of the best stories I have ever heard, along with the fact that he has put out some of the most amazing and consistant work for two decades. If you live near San Francisco, I highly suggest paying him a visit. You won't regret it. Here are a few photos from this trip.

This year has started out well. I've done quite a few cool tattoos. I love tattooing flowers, and I also love any monster/sea creature type designs as well. I tried a different approach than I normally do on this one. I really like the way it turned out.

A few from the past month or two

All in a days work.

Here are two tattoos I did today. The lady is on a great guy named Wes. Super cool guy. The Sugar skull is on Jason the Tender of Bars. Also a super cool guy, and a champ for sticking it out on this elbow tattoo.

I need to remember to update this thing from time to time.
